| What is cellulite? |
Cellulite is an unattractive, dimpled skin located around the back of the legs, thighs, buttocks and other body areas where large amounts of fat cells are found in close proximity to the skin. Most women over the age of 18 have some degree of cellulite, but it is uncommon in men. It develops as fat cells in the subcutaneous layer increase, forming tight pockets, which inhibit circulation and trap water and toxins. Cellulite does not respond well to weight loss, exercise, creams or even surgical liposuction.

| Is it better to use natural, as opposed to synthetic, ingredients? |
Not necessarily. The use of the terms "natural" and "botanical" are not regulated and can be extremely misleading. While pure, potent, natural ingredients used in sufficient quantity can have benefits in skin care and are adjuncts in the treatment of cellulites, the inclusion of “natural” ingredients in a product formulation is not automatically beneficial. Most poor quality "botanical" ingredients are not potent enough to have any benefit and they require strong preservative systems to prevent the growth of bacteria. Preservatives can be harmful to both the skin and the body. Products that use pure water, high quality ingredients, controlled manufacturing conditions and packaging that prevents cross contamination do not require harsh chemical preservatives.
Even in so called natural products the "natural" ingredients rarely account for more than 5-10% of the entire formulation, so it is more important to evaluate the remaining ingredients. No amount of "natural" ingredients can compensate for the potential harm of chemicals such as alcohol, ethanol, dyes, fragrance, sodium hydroxide (lye), isopropyl myristate, sodium laurel sulfate, methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, diazolidinyl urea, imidazolidinyl urea, etc.
In summary, don’t assume that all products that contain "natural"ingredients are beneficial. What is important is the quality and quantity of the natural ingredients, but even more important is to ensure that the product does not contain harmful chemical additives.
